Teen Sentenced 2 Months After Pleading Guilty To Manslaughter
THURMONT, Md. (AP) -- A Thurmont man is spending two months in jail for killing his friend in a crash that apparently prompted the remorseful driver to attempt suicide.
The Frederick News-Post reports Seth Fisher, 19, was sentenced Thursday in Frederick after pleading guilty to manslaughter.
He also pleaded guilty to leaving the scene of the January 2012 accident that killed Brandon Herbert, 18, of Thurmont.
Fisher will serve six months on home detention while getting medical treatment and surgeries after his release. The court suspended the rest of a 20-year prison term.
Fisher was charged with negligent manslaughter eight months after Herbert's body was found on a country road. Investigators found Fisher at home with a gunshot wound to the head and his damaged truck in the driveway.
