Teenager killed prompts more concern about violence in Towson
BALTIMORE -- Towson's violent streak has turned deadly.
Baltimore County Police revealed Monday night's shooting killed a 17-year-old boy near Towson Circle at Delaware Avenue and E. Joppa Road.
It's just the latest violent crime to happen near Towson Circle.
As police try to put the pieces together on this incident, the community continues to be on the edge.
Bryce Campbell had no idea about Monday night's deadly shooting until WJZ told him about it.
February has been a violent month in Towson.
"This is a great city, but when our people are not great, how can we be great," he said.
The Baltimore County Police Department said they responded to Joppa Road and Delaware Avenue around 7:15 p.m. Monday, finding 17-year-old Tre'Shaun Harmon had been shot multiple times.
Harmon was taken to an area hospital, where he later died, according to Det. Trae Corbin.
Police are still trying to find the suspects in this shooting, as well as motive.
Last week, a man was shot near Chesapeake and Washington avenues and a transgender woman was found stabbed near Chesapeake Avenue and York Road.
Earlier this month, police say Quantze Davis, 28, was charged with sexually assaulting three women right off of Towson Circle.
Nancy Hafford, Executive Director for the Towson Chamber of Commerce, said the business community has a great relationship with police.
She also said police have been responsive with their concerns.
"The police department is really ramping up. People will see a lot more police and they should feel very comfortable with that," Hafford said.
But, the business community also is trying to return the favor.
With a state grant, 50 surveillance cameras were added to 50 buildings in the area with the goal of catching criminals red-handed.
"One thing that's different about our community than a lot of other communities, is we all work together to solve crime in this area," Hafford said. "We don't just leave it to the police officers and the detectives."
Corbin said detectives are still trying to find surveillance and other evidence from Monday's shooting.
