Teen Charged With Setting Fire To Historic Md. Home
HAVRE DE GRACE, Md. (AP) -- A 15-year-old boy has been charged as a juvenile with setting a fire that damaged an historic home in Havre de Grace.
The Maryland State Fire Marshal's office says the teenager threw a sparkler that ignited a chair cushion on the front porch of the house early Saturday morning. Two residents of the 127-year-old home were able to escape.
Authorities say the teenager and two friends placed sparklers on the front porches of several homes, knocked on doors and ran away. No other homes were damaged.
The boy has been charged as a juvenile with arson, malicious burning and reckless endangerment. His friends have been charged as accessories to the same crimes. All three were released to the custody of their parents.
