Suspects Wanted For Allegedly Assaulting Glen Burnie Bowl America Employees After Refusing To Wear Masks
GLEN BURNIE, Md. (WJZ) — Police are searching for a group of suspects who allegedly assaulted a bowling alley manager on Saturday night after he asked them to wear masks.
Officers responded at around 7:15 p.m. for an assault at the Bowl America on Ritchie Highway. The victim, a manager at the bowling alley, said he asked several male patrons to leave because they refused to wear masks.
According to police, one of them pushed the manager when he was asked to leave.
The manager escorted the group of eight outside, and when they were outside one of them punched the manager, police said.
A second victim, another bowling alley employee, came out to help the manager and was also assaulted.
"After he fell to the ground, several of the other individuals in the group of about 8 individuals began to punch him and kick him," Marc Limansky, of the Anne Arundel County Police Department, said. "Another employee came to his aid, and that employee was assaulted as well."
Police said the manager was taken to a hospital with minor injuries.
This is not the first incident of this kind in Anne Arundel County.
According to police, last month, employees at a Cold Stone Creamery in Edgewater were assaulted by customers who refused to wear masks.
The county's health officer said several health inspections have been met with hostility when trying to enforce COVID-19 mandates.
