Suspect's Roommate Testifies In Murder Trial

BALTIMORE (AP) -- A roommate of the man accused of killing a Johns Hopkins researcher testified at the suspect's trial that after the attack, he said he'd robbed someone and had hurt them badly.

John Alexander Wagner is accused of killing Stephen Pitcairn, who was robbed and stabbed last summer while talking on a cell phone with his mother.

Testifying Wednesday, Tyrine Williams told jurors Wagner told them about the attack. The Baltimore Sun reports that Williams said she and her boyfriend then tried to use victim's stolen credit card at a nearby gas station and planned to
use the proceeds to buy drugs to continue a 15-hour cocaine and heroin binge.

Pitcairn's killing outraged the community and became part of Gregg L. Bernstein's campaign for state's attorney, which he won.
