Suspected Intruder Who Raped And Beat North Baltimore Woman Arrested
BALTIMORE (WJZ)—Following a DNA match, a suspect has been arrested for a rape that occurred November in North Baltimore.
Nelson Bernard Clifford Jr., 33, is accused of breaking into a home, tying up his victim and raping her while her children were in the next room.
The frightening attack unfolded in the 3700-block of Greenmount Avenue just before 4 a.m. on Nov. 10.
The victim's father says a man broke through his daughter's window, then raped her while her two young children were in the next room. WJZ concealed him at his request and to protect the victim's identity.
"She woke up with his hand on her mouth," the victim's father said. "He then tied her up and blindfolded her, and told her that he would kill her if she screamed."
"He informed her that he had looked at her identification, and if she informed police of what happened, he would come back and kill her and her children," the victim's father continued. "Those girls were just mentally tormented all day by the fact that somebody intruded their home. They understood that someone did come into the house and hurt their mother."
Clifford's trial date is set for Jan. 5. He faces several charges, including first-degree rape, false imprisonment and burglary.
