Suspect In High School Shooting Scheduled For Plea Hearing

FREDERICK, Md. (AP) -- The second suspect in the shooting of two teenage boys outside a Frederick High School gymnasium in February is scheduled for a plea hearing.

Prosecutors and a defense attorney wouldn't say whether 22-year-old Brandon Tyler will strike a plea deal at the hearing Tuesday afternoon. Co-defendant Chandler Davenport pleaded guilty in August to two counts of reckless endangerment.

Police say Tyler fired seven shots from a .380-caliber handgun after Davenport lured the victims outside during a basketball game.

One boy was shot in the leg and one in the back.

Prosecutors say the incident involved rival groups from two public housing complexes.

Tyler is charged with four counts of first-degree assault plus reckless endangerment, conspiracy and firearm offenses. His trial is set for May.
