Suspect Charged In 2 Bank Robberies Leads To 2 Others Arrested
RISING SUN, Md. (WJZ) --- Maryland State Police say they have arrested a suspect in two Harford County bank robberies last week and made two more arrests from the investigation.
Maryland State Police started the investigation on June 10.
Police say they were called to the 2400-block of Whiteford Road where a suspect entered a PNC Bank. The suspect handed the teller a note demanding money. The suspect got away with an undisclosed amount of cash.
Around 2:30 p.m. on June 12 a suspect with the same description entered the National Bank of Rising Sun in the 3500-block of Conowingo Road. The suspect handed the teller a similar note demanding money. Again, the suspect got away with an undisclosed amount of cash and did not display or imply he had a weapon.
No one was injured in either one of the robberies.
State Police investigators issued a bank surveillance photo of the suspect. Police say they were able to identify a Toyota van possibly used by the suspect in robbing the banks.
The suspect was identified as Joseph S. Tiller, 35, of the 100-block of Slicers Mill Rd. He has been charged with robbery, theft, and second-degree assault.
The other two suspects in the case were Phillip Lockett, 39, and Maliss N. Miller, 28, both of the 800-block of Rising Sun Rd. They were both charged.
Police say they found a Toyota van, counterfeit $20 bill, a handgun and a box of handgun ammunition at the home of Lockett and Miller.
The investigation is ongoing and additional charges are possible against all three suspects.
