Suspect Arrested In Bowie Home Arson
BOWIE, Md. (WJZ) -- A man has been arrested in connection with a fire that trapped two Chihuahuas earlier this week.
The fire happened on Oct. 23 in the 12000-block of Sandal Lane in Bowie.
Julian Martin Massiah, of Bowie, was charged with first- and second-degree arson, which are felonies carrying a maximum sentence of 30 years and 20 years respectively.
Massiah is currently being held at the Prince George's County Department of Corrections on a $150,000 bond.
The two Chihuahuas were removed from the home and were revived by firefighters. Unfortunately, the dogs now appear to be declining in health. One is experiencing eye irritation and the other is having complications due to smoke inhalation. Both dogs are in need of veterinary treatment, and the family's resources are reportedly limited.
