Sunday's 3 Best
Monday Night the Eagles offense couldn't have been better. Three nights later the Dolphins offense couldn't have been more offensive! The NFL Network got the short end of the TV stick.
In order of their kickoff times here are 3 Sunday games worth some eyeballs. Picks included at no extra charge!
1:00 Green Bay (6-3) at Minnesota (3-6)
The Vikings are on life-support and this could be the final act in the Chilli-Brett show. The Vikings have a long way to go to catch the Bears and Packers but if they lose this one it's officially wait till next year time.
A loss would mean that Brad Childress won't be back next year and it might signal the end to Brett Favre's consecutive start streak that's now in its 19th year.
Favre won both games against his former team last season but the Packers beat the Vikings 28-24 in Green Bay a month ago. Green Bay's Clay Matthews Jr. looks like the defensive player of the year he'll be after Favre trying to pad his NFL leading 10 1/2 sacks.
Farve has put up good numbers against the team he played with for 16 years, in those 3 games he's completed nearly 65% of his passes for 727 yards with 8 TDs vs. 3 INTs for a 106.6 rating. And then there's Adrian Peterson In his last 5 games against the Packers AP has rushed for 578 yards (115.6 per game) & 5 TDs. The Vikings will battle in a must-win game but color this one Green and Gold. Packers win to stay even with the Bears.
4:15 Colts (6-3) at Patriots (7-2)
What's not to like about this one. The NFL's 2 best quarterbacks leading 2 teams that have their sights set on Dallas and Super Bowl XLV. The last 5 times these teams have met the games has been decided by 7 points or less. Bill Belichick is 10-8 against the Colts but Indianapolis has won 4 of the last 5.
In the last meeting between these teams Peyton Manning threw a TD pass with 13 seconds left in the game, the Colts down 17 points in the 4th quarter came back to win a 35-34 thriller. The Patriots are coming off an impressive 39-26 win at Pittsburgh. Brady is going for his 25th straight home win, he'll tie Brett Favre's NFL record if he gets it.
This looks like a jump ball game from here, I'll give the Patriots a slight home field edge.
8:20 Giants (6-3) at Eagles (6-3)
I'm watching this game and wondering like the rest of the football world what the heck can Michael Vick do for an encore. Monday night on the first play from scrimmage Vick threw an 88-yard bomb for a TD and then he kept getting better.
It may have been the best game played by an NFL quarterback in the league's 90 year history. Vick was Sic! Who knows where this story goes but right now Vick is a strong MVP candidate and the Eagles are as dangerous as any team in the NFL.
The Giants looked like the best team in the NFC until last Sunday when their 5-game win streak blew up at home with a loss to Dallas. The Cowboys came to the Meadowlands with more head coaches than wins this season, go figure!
Everywhere I look I see big numbers in this match-up. The Eagles scored 59 Monday night, the last time they played the Giants they won 45-39, the last time they played the G-men in Philly the Eagles scored 40. The last time Eli Manning faced the Eagles defense he riddled 'um for 391 yards and 3 TD's. Can anybody here play some defense ??
Notes: Vick has thrown 153 passes without an interception (11 TD's). Giants defense has knocked 5 quarterbacks out of games with injuries this season. Eagles have won last 3 against the Giants.
I can't go against Vick until he cools off. But in this crazy roller-coaster season wouldn't be surprised if the Giants beat them. But the pick is Vick!
Here are some teams on the ropes that really need to win this weekend. The Titans (5-4) can't afford to lose to the Skins at home. Put a fork in the Texans (4-5) if they lose at the Jets. If the Jaguars (5-4) lose at home to the Browns they're hurting'. And the (3-6) 49ers may be dialing 911 if they lose at home to the Buc's.
