Student Charged With Rape At Md. High School
COLUMBIA, Md. (AP) -- Howard County police have arrested a 17-year-old student at Wilde Lake High School in Columbia in connection with the rape of another student at the school.
Police said Tuesday that DeShawn Jones of Columbia will be charged as an adult with second-degree rape.
Officers say Jones approached a 14-year-old student Monday in a hallway at the school during class hours and asked her to cut class with him. Police say the two walked around inside the school and Jones pulled the girl into an unoccupied room.
Authorities say Jones prevented the girl from leaving, held her down and raped her.
Police say the girl reported the incident to a parent, who called police. Jones was arrested Tuesday at the school.
