Storms Down Trees, Power Lines In Del., Md.
WILMINGTON, Del. (AP) -- Storms downed trees and utility wires and left thousands in the dark in Delaware and Maryland.
More than 1,100 Delmarva Power customers remain without power in New Castle County, Del., and Cecil County, Md., on Tuesday morning after storms blew through the region Monday. Baltimore Gas & Electric is reporting about 1,000 customers without power throughout central Maryland.
The Delaware Department of Transportation reports that multiple downed trees closed Ramsey Road between Creek and Thompsons Bridge roads in Brandywine Hundred on Tuesday morning. Officials warn that trees may block roads in other areas.
The National Weather Service says it received reports from Cecil County, Md., of cars damaged by downed trees and a store damaged by lightning in North East.
The weather service says more thunderstorms are possible Tuesday afternoon.
