Store Employees Leave Robbery Suspect Bloodied
ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) -- Annapolis police say employees at a grocery turned on a would-be robber, hitting him with items from shelves and chasing him around the store until officers arrived.
It happened about 9:20 p.m. Friday at Anita's Spanish Grocery.
Police tell The Capital of Annapolis that Darius Cameron, 26, of Glen Burnie went into the store, pointed a gun at a clerk, and demanded money. The clerk hit the panic alarm.
Police say Cameron climbed over the counter, pointed the gun at the clerk and pulled the trigger. But it did not fire. At least three clerks struggled with him until police arrived.
Cameron, who was treated at Shock Trauma in Baltimore for a laceration to his forehead, has been charged with attempted murder, assault and robbery.
