Stolen Combat Boot, Helmet Are Found In N.Y.
TAPPAN, N.Y. (AP) -- Authorities say a combat boot and a helmet that were stolen from a veteran's front lawn on Memorial Day weekend have been found.
Nicholas Aragonesi of Tappan, N.Y., says he's kept the gear for about 45 years in tribute to a soldier who died in his arms in Vietnam.
An acquaintance who'd read about the theft called to say he'd found the items at the side of a road. One boot remains missing.
According to the Journal News, the boots and helmet had belonged to Sgt. Kenneth E. Grove of Parkton, Md.
Aragonesi has displayed them in his yard along with a wreath on Memorial Day for 15 years.
He hasn't decided whether he'll do it again next year. But he says he'll never stop honoring Grove and other veterans.
