Steve Davis: Turgeon Should Be Coach of Year
Mark Turgeon has done a great job with the Terps, and he absolutely, positively should be the Coach of the Year in the Big Ten. It shouldn't even be close.
The Terps were picked to be in the bottom of the Big Ten. Instead, it looks like they will finish second. That is amazing for their first year in the conference, and what makes it even more impressive is all the turnover they had on the time. There was a mass exodus of players from the program, and what has resulted is the Terps best team in over a decade. He has mixed in freshmen and transfers with the leftover crop and whipped together a team that is easily a Sweet 16 team. If they get the right match-ups in the tournament, they could make a run into the Final 4. I am not saying the Terps are one of the best 4 teams in the country. But, I do think they can beat almost anyone in the country. I hope they don't end up in the same region as Kentucky, but beyond that, I think they can hang with just about anyone.
