Steve Davis: The 49ers Are Scary
I think the 49'ers are legit, even capable of beating the Packers. Someone said to me that the 8-1 is overrated because they play in the NFC West. On the surface, you might say that because they're division is pathetic, the worst in football. But San Fran has only played 2 games in the division right now.
Their wins are about as impressive as any team in football. Road wins in Cincinnati, Philadelphia and Detroit, and home wins against the Giants and Tampa Bay, who they beat 48-3. They play great defense, run the football very well, and have a QB who "manages" the game. It's the formula that won a certain Baltimore team a title 11 years ago. Jim Harbaugh has done an amazing job, considering he has most of the same personnel that was brutal last year.
That said, I like the Ravens in this game. They're 5-0 at home, and it's ridiculous to ask a team to travel from west to east, 3 time zones, with 3 days rest to play a game.
