Steve Davis: Terps Storm The Court
All the people that are criticizing the fans for storming the court in College Park Tuesday night....SHUT UP!
I saw Seth Greenberg on ESPN criticizing them on national TV, saying something to the effect of "you're Maryland, you're ranked 14th, you don't storm the court for beating a #5 team." That sounds good but, that's an old man talking.
These are college kids. They weren't around for the Terps winning a national title. Heck, that was 13 years ago, some of the students were still in pre-school. Put yourself in the shoes of the fans that were there.
Maryland hasn't been in the NCAA tourney in 5 years. They just beat the #5 team on national TV, a team that hadn't lost in 10 games. It's their first signature win in the Big Ten.
It was a great victory. Have some fun!
And, I feel my opinion is validated by the fact that we had the Wizard, Walt Williams, on the show who disagreed with Greenberg and liked that they stormed the court.
Now, if Maryland returns to the form of 15 years ago, then they don't have to storm the court every time they beat a Top 5 team, but this is a great step in that direction.
