Steve Davis: Ravens Playoff Chances Look Good
The Ravens are 6-6, and I am not convinced they are much better than an average team. That said, it should be enough to get them in the playoffs.
The Ravens are tied with the Dolphins. Miami has games in Pittsburgh and then home vs. New England. I think they lose both, which means best case they finish 8-8. All of them teams at 5-7 would need to run the table to get to 9-7. That seems unlikely. All those teams--Pittsburgh, San Diego, Tennessee, New York--have tough enough games that they should lose at least one.
So, best case is that they finish 8-8. That leaves the Ravens. They should beat Minnesota. That means that they have to go 2-1 in games in Detroit, home vs. New England and on the road vs. Cincinnati. I am not sure they can actually do that. They have been terrible on the road, so I doubt they will win both road games. But maybe one? Then beat New England at home, which will be tough but doable. That is 9-7, and in the playoffs. Of course, that is easier said then done. 8-8 might be more realistic, then it is a free for all.
