It was Winston Churchill that uttered those words in 1941, just as the United States was being pulled into World War II.
We can never give in.
That's what "they" want, whoever "they" are.
As of today, Tuesday, we don't know who "they" are, but we know they wish "us" ill.
My mother was at the finish line of the Boston Marathon just minutes before the attack. My parents live across the from the finish line. I would expect my mom to be back there next year, cheering on the runners, as she has done for years and years.
That's the American Way, the American Spirit. We are a free society, and with a free society, there are inherent risks. This will not be the last, or the worst. We know that, because with freedom comes opportunity, for both good and bad people.
Must we be on alert? Yes.
Must we be smart? Yes.
Can we give in to the will of the evil among us? Never! Never Given In.
