St. Bonaventure Ends Loyola Streak, 76-66
OLEAN, N.Y. (AP) -- Demitrius Conger scored 20 points and Andrew Nicholson 18 as St. Bonaventure defeated Loyola (Md.) 76-66 Sunday, ending the Greyhounds' eight-game winning streak.
Conger scored five of the first nine points by the Bonnies (5-4), who took a 14-2 lead in the game's opening 4:40 and held double-digit leads for most of the game.
St. Bonaventure shot 65.2 (15 of 23) in the first half for a 43-28 halftime lead over Loyola, which managed 37 percent (10 of 27).
The Greyhounds (8-2) pulled to within six points, 70-64, with 4:06 remaining after six straight points by Justin Drummond, who finished with 25 points. But Loyola didn't score again for the next 3:39, and the Bonnies had increased their lead to 75-64 by then.
Da'quan Cook added 12 points and six rebounds for St. Bonaventure, Nicholson also had six rebounds and Conger had five assists.
