Spring Has Officially Sprung At Baltimore's Annual FlowerMart Festival
BALTIMORE (WJZ)— A spring tradition is getting underway downtown. Hundreds are heading into historic Mount Vernon to enjoy this year's annual FlowerMart.
It's shaping up to be a great day to get outside and take part in the outdoor festival.
Jessica Kartalija has more on all the sights and the smells.
It's Baltimore's official start to spring.
April showers brought May flowers to Mt. Vernon for the 102nd year in a row.
"Brings me back to my childhood. I used to come here when I was a kid," a man said.
"You can't have too many flowers and you can't have too many colors," a woman said.
Ty, 12, loves spring so much, he put it on paper.
"As the escalation of sports turns to its peak, allergies come back with their unstoppable streak," he said.
Food, hats and fascinating fascinators make for a fantastic FlowerMart.
"I am Sally Utz, and I have Natty Boh on my head," a woman said.
"But the birds start to sing their summer songs, setting sights for summer is just plain wrong," Ty said.
In addition to entertainment, there is wonderful food and nonprofit vendors selling flowers all for a great cause.
There are also booths with plenty of art work for sale.
The festival runs until 8 p.m. Friday, with performances onstage at 7.
