Sports Quick Hits: Jarrett Johnson To SD, Madness Begins
The First 4 are out of the way. March Madness begins at 12:15 with Murray State & Colorado State. Wednesday night, Vermont and South Florida closed out the first 4 with wins. Vermont beat Lamar 71-59. They'll play top-seeded North Carolina in round 2. South Florida beat Cal 65-54 to move on and face Temple. Sixteen games Thursday including Loyola and Ohio State at 9:30 p.m. on 105-7 THE FAN.
Day 2 of NFL free agency saw the Tampa Bay Buccaneers continued buying. They signed free agent cornerback Eric Wright and free agent guard Carl Nicks to 5 year contracts. Free agent running back Peyton Hillis left Cleveland for Kansas City. The Ravens are preparing for possible life without Ben Grubbs. Grubbs was in New Orleans Wednesday. Ravens plan to meet with former Eagles guard Evan Mathis Thursday. Mathis is considered the third best guard in free agency behind Nicks and Grubbs. Former Ravens defensive end Corey Redding joined the Colts in a 3-year $10.5 million deal, and linebacker Jarret Johnson left Baltimore for San Diego. Johnson joined 105-7 THE FAN's Jerry Coleman Wednesday night after a very emotional day.
