Snow For Christmas In D.C. Hit Or Miss
WASHINGTON (AP) -- Snow for Christmas in the nation's capital could be hit or miss. Some areas may see flurries and others not.
Calvin Meadows of the National Weather Service said Friday that models that help forecasters predict snow were uncertain, but meteorologists will get more information Saturday night.
According to National Weather Service statistics a white Christmas is a rarity in Washington. The last time it snowed on Christmas was 2002 when both the District of Columbia and Baltimore got snow. In the past 20 years only two Christmases have had measurable snowfall: 1993 and 2002.
A typical Christmas in the area is a frosty early morning with a low of 29. The coldest Christmas on record was 1983 when temperatures fell to just three degrees above zero.
