Slutwalk Baltimore Sends Message Against Sexual Violence
BALTIMORE (WJZ)— Dressing sexy is not an invitation for rape. That's just one of the messages Slutwalk Baltimore set to deliver Saturday morning.
At 10 a.m., survivors and advocates began their walk from Power Plant to City Hall in protest of sexual violence.
Slutwalk is an international movement where supporters take to the streets in various cities to march against rape, slut shaming and victim blaming.
"As the survivor of sexual assault and a victim of slut-shaming, I know the detrimental effects it can have on a person. I took over SlutWalk Baltimore in 2012 because I need to help create a world where no one else is made to feel as I did," said Director Rachel Perry-Crook.
The SlultWalk protest marches began in Toronto, Canada in 2011.
