Slaying Suspect At Large 3 Days After Shooting
FREDERICK, Md. (AP) -- Police in Frederick say the suspect in a fatal shooting remains at large three days after the incident.
Lt. Clark Pennington said Monday that detectives are meeting to discuss their investigation into the slaying Friday of Tranice Richardson, 33. They are looking for Melvin Smith, 27.
Pennington says Smith and Richardson were romantically involved. Court records show that he fathered at least one of her four children.
The Frederick News-Post reports that Smith served five years for a manslaughter conviction stemming from a shooting in Frederick in 2000.
In that incident, Smith pleaded guilty to killing Cedric Brinkley after seeing Brinkley shoot and kill Smith's cousin, Welmon Nash.
