Sisters Go Through Cancer Together
ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) -- Two sisters who live more than 1,000 miles apart are participating in a cancer study together.
Maryland resident Nancy Powley and her sister Diana Bisanar of Oklahoma both have chronic lymphocytic leukemia, or CLL.
Now both women are participating in a clinical study on the way the disease runs in families.
As part of the study, both women are taking drugs that are expected to keep the cancer in remission.
The sisters said that experiencing the same disease -- and treatment -- together has made their already close relationship closer.
