Shutdown Won't Hit Navy Yard Building 197 Workers
WASHINGTON (AP) -- Employees who work at the Washington Navy Yard's building 197, where a gunman killed 12 people last month, will not be affected by the government shutdown.
Naval Sea Systems Command spokesman Chris Johnson confirmed Tuesday that people who work in that building will not be affected. The building is headquarters of Naval Sea Systems Command. Johnson said the request to ensure building 197 employees were not affected by the shutdown came from Secretary of the Navy Ray Mabus.
Mabus had tweeted Monday that building 197 workers would not be affected.
