Show Me The Money! You Could Be $400M Richer As Powerball Jackpot Soars
BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- Are you feeling lucky? The Powerball jackpot now sits at $400 million! There were no big winners in Saturday night's drawing.
Linh Bui reports many Marylanders are counting on Lady Luck.
A $2 ticket could change your entire life. As the Powerball jackpot soars to $400 million, Marylanders are feeling lucky and confident.
"I'm here to tell all of you I am the winner," said Eleanor Thomas.
People are paying to play. It's the fourth time this year the Powerball broke $300 million.
"People like to win big," a store clerk said.
Milford Liquors in Milford Mill was busy all day, selling tickets to hopeful customers.
"The numbers that I'm choosing are my family's birthday numbers. So hopefully we'll win," Thomas said.
The jackpot grew quickly after rolling over 11 times.
Just last month, a group of Jersey Shore maintenance workers, dubbed the "Oceans 16", hit it big--sharing one-third of a $448 million jackpot. That breaks down to nearly $4 million for each of them.
"The first thing I'm going to do is buy me and my daughter a home. And bring my dog back home," said Powerball winner Darlene Riccio.
The odds of winning the grand prize? About one in 175 million. But you never know.
"Everybody needs to take a chance," said Thomas.
