Shooting Leaves Man Dead In La Plata
LA PLATA, Md. (AP) -- The Charles County Sheriff's Office is investigating a shooting that left one man dead in La Plata.
Authorities say officers responded to the Phoenix Run neighborhood for the report of gunshots Saturday night. Officers found Melvin Wayne Brown, 31, of Indian Head. Officials say he had been shot and was pronounced dead on the scene.
Detectives are trying to determine a motive. The sheriff's office is asking any witnesses to come forward with information.
