Severna Park Mortgage Broker Sentenced To Prison
BALTIMORE (AP) -- A judge has sentenced a broker to more than three years in prison for her role in a mortgage fraud scheme that resulted in nearly $5 million in fraudulent loans.
The Maryland U.S. attorney's office says Mary Anne Dean, of Severna Park, Md., was sentenced Tuesday to 37 months in prison for conspiracy to commit wire fraud in connection with the scheme, which ultimately cost lenders nearly $1 million and caused homeowners to lose more than $1.2 million in equity in their homes.
Prosecutors say more than 20 victims were defrauded by Dean, 60, and a co-defendant, who was sentenced in March to 41 months in prison.
Dean has also been ordered to pay restitution, but the exact amount will be decided at a later date.
