Md. Inmate Who Stabbed 2 While Escaping Work Crew On I-68 Gets 2 Life Terms
OAKLAND, Md. (AP) -- A judge in Oakland has added two life terms plus 60 years to the sentence of a Maryland prison inmate who stabbed two people while escaping from a road crew along Interstate 68 in 2012.
Larry Johnson, 40, was sentenced Tuesday. He was already serving 20 years for carjacking and handgun convictions in Prince George's County.
Johnson was convicted in October of two counts of attempted first-degree murder, carjacking and escape.
Johnson stabbed a correctional officer with a pair of pliers and then stole and wrecked a prison van before flagging down a motorist from West Virginia. He stabbed the driver in the head, stole his car and drove 13 miles down Route 495 before hitting a tree in a residential development near Deep Creek Lake.
