Sen. Mikulski To Take Part In Health Announcement
WASHINGTON (AP) -- Sen. Barbara Mikulski is joining a bipartisan effort to increase innovation in drug development.
Mikulski, D-Md., is scheduled to take part in a news conference on Thursday in Washington with several other senators.
It's called the Spending Reductions through Innovations in Therapies Act.
Supporters say it will help speed up the development of drugs and therapies to fight the most deadly and costly chronic diseases, including Alzheimer's, cancer, diabetes and heart diseases.
The measure calls for investing in public-private partnerships to ensure scientists and researchers are able to develop new safe and effective drugs.
