Saying Goodbye To The Last Of Summer At The Maryland State Fair
TIMONIUM, Md. (WJZ) -- Though we're still three weeks away from the last day of summer, for many, it effectively ends Labor Day. Also wrapping up is the Maryland State Fair.

They come on the cloudy days. They came on the sunny days. The big gamble every year is the weather.
"We've done very well," said Max Mosner, Maryland State Fair general manager.
Mosner says the reason why the state fair is doing well is as easy as looking into the sky.
"Well, we've had very few raindrops, and that's the name of the game in the fair business," said Mosner.
Clear skies day and night mean big numbers. There were 100,000 more people this year when compared to last year's dark and rainy fair.
"Looks like we'll do 400,000, which is right what a nice normal fair is," said Mosner.
This fair isn't all corn and corn dogs. Agriculture is a huge part of rural Maryland and continues to shape lives.
"It's made me into the person I am today. I know a lot more about animals and agriculture," said Gabrielle Cory, Miss Maryland Agriculture.
Hearing stories like that makes Mosner's day.
"Happy, happy. Sorry it's over," he said.
The fair closes Monday at 10 p.m. Mosner says it's a good time for late arrivals as many people tend to go home early.
