Salisbury Zoo Says Goodbye To Director
SALISBURY, Md. (AP) -- The Salisbury Zoo is opening a new exhibit devoted to animals of Australia and is saying goodbye to its director.
Mayor Jim Ireton announced that zoo director Joel Hamilton is leaving to become an official at the Audubon Zoo in New Orleans. He has led the Salisbury Zoo since 2008.
The zoo is welcoming wallabies in the new "Discover Australia" section. Officials opened the exhibit Friday.
Hamilton led fundraising for the new exhibit, broke ground for a new animal health clinic, founded the Delmarva Zoological Society and led in the creation of a new website for the zoo.
