Ruppersberger Talks About Bin Laden Raid
PARKVILLE, Md. (WJZ) -- Congressman Dutch Ruppersberger, a ranking member of the House Intelligence Committee, says the United States should still be very concerned about terrorist attacks.
Mary Bubala has more.
He shared that message Friday with his constituents in Baltimore County.
"We have to be concerned about other attacks," said Ruppersberger.
Ruppersberger goes to the front lines of the war on terror.
"In my role on the Intelligence Committee I travel all over the world, and I am not going to Bermuda folks, I am going to Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan and Yemen," said Ruppersberger.
He's privy to the intelligence that the CIA and NSA gather.
"A lot of times when you hear conversations between the terrorists talking, it's always about Allah, about God, God wants us to do this," said Ruppersberger.
He was one of the select few who knew of the covert operation to take down Osama bin Laden.
Ruppersberger now says our biggest threat lies in Yemen.
"Anwar al Awlaki-- he's American born, he's American trained, he knows our culture, and he's very smart and he's very dangerous, and his focus is to attack the United States," said Ruppersberger.
Ruppersberger just returned from Yemen two weeks ago. He says agents are on the ground in Yemen trying to disrupt the al-Qaeda network.
He also told us that as a member of the Intelligence Committee he will get to view the photo of bin Laden.
