Ruby Tuesday Restaurant Is Coming To Liberty Road In Randallstown
RANDALLSTOWN, Md. (WJZ)—More big name businesses are headed to the Liberty Road corridor sitting outside the Beltway, after residents and local leaders spend decades trying to breathe new life into the area.
Christie Ileto explains the new addition will be another big boost to the Randallstown economy.
A new addition is coming to the Brenbrook Shopping Plaza.
Baltimore County leaders unveiled Thursday that a Ruby Tuesday restaurant will join big box retailers Home Depot, Wal-Mart and Marshalls in the heart of the Liberty Road corridor.
It's a welcome addition for residents.
"We always wanted a national restaurant chain like Ruby Tuesday to come here," said Aaron Plymouth.
"We've had to go out of the community to get to where we'd like to go, so we're very thrilled today. This is what we've been waiting for a long time," said Pat Clarke, resident.
For decades, county leaders and residents have long wanted to attract major retailers to the Liberty Road corridor.
In fact, residents, the county and area businesses-- including Wal-Mart which opened last year--used a video to show why Ruby Tuesdays coming to Randallstown would be a win-win for everyone.
"You need to locate where the action is, and we think Liberty and Brenbrook is where the action is," said Kevin Kamenetz, Baltimore County Executive.
The 5,000 sq. ft. restaurant will seat 175, serving area residents and more than 62,000 people who travel Liberty Road every day.
"It means lots of great things. It will bring 60-70 jobs to the Liberty Road corridor," said Kelly Carter, Liberty Road Business Association.
Not to mention convenience for locals and a boost to the economy.
"We really get to eat, sleep and play in the Liberty Road corridor," Carter said.
It's a new beginning for an area once lacking big box stores and national chains.
The restaurant will open next spring.
