Rt. 29 Shut Down After Serious Accident

COLUMBIA, Md. (WJZ) -- Rt. 29 has been shut down in both directions after an accident.

This is on Rt. 29 between Rt. 32 and Johns Hopkins Road. Drivers are asked to avoid the area if possible.

According to police, three cars are involved. One patient is in very serious condition, two more have serious but non-life threatening injuries and five more have minor injuries.

Some are being taken by ground; one more by air.

The accident was on 29 south but the northbound had to be shut down as well so that person could be medevaced to the hospital.
