Rosecroft Raceway To Reopen With TV Harness Racing
FORT WASHINGTON, Md. (AP) -- Rosecroft Raceway's new owner says the Prince George's County horse track will reopen Thursday to feature simulcasts from other harness tracks around the country.
Penn National Gaming Inc. tells The Washington Post that live racing will return to Rosecroft this fall. The group submitted a license application in May and wants to have 20 days of live racing this year and 54 days in 2012.
Rosecroft suspended live racing in 2008. Pennsylvania-based Penn National bought the bankrupt track for $11 million this year.
The company is pushing Maryland's General Assembly to authorize slot machines and table games at the site. The moves would also require statewide voter approval.
