Robbery Suspect Ruled Incompetent To Stand Trial
ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) -- A judge has ruled that a man accused of firing his malfunctioning gun three times at employees during a grocery robbery has been ruled incompetent to stand trial.
An Anne Arundel County Circuit judge ruled last week that Darius Cameron, 27, of Glen Burnie was incompetent to stand trial on charges of attempted murder and attempted robbery. The Capital of Annapolis reports that Cameron was committed to the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene for further evaluation.
Police said in August 2011, Cameron entered Anita's Spanish Grocery in Annapolis and tried to shoot three employees during a robbery. Police said the employees wrestled with Cameron and pelted him with items from the shelves.
Authorities say the employees chased Cameron around the store until police arrived.
