Rob Long: Where's Adrian?
At the risk of sounding negative or questioning the college career of Johnny Rhodes, there is one major problem with the jerseys that hang in the rafters at Comcast Center.
Adrian Branch must have really upset someone in College Park because his numbers are better than Rhodes, but he's still doesn't have his number up. Again, I'm not saying Rhodes doesn't deserve to be among Maryland basketball immortals, but what did Branch do that suggests he's not worthy?
Branch averaged over 18 points per game twice during his career in College Park and finished averaging 16.4 points per game. He also averaged over two assists and four rebounds as well. Branch was a key member of the 1984 Terps team that won the ACC Championship over Duke.
Adrian Branch may deserve to be honored more than any former player who hasn't been honored as of yet. Why? Only the powers that be know the answer to that.
