If you aren't paying attention to college basketball this season, you're missing one of the most exciting seasons in recent history. Parity is something that most sports fans want and NCAA men's basketball is providing it in a major way.
First, who wants to be number one? Some would say that no one deserves it. That's a "glass half empty" way of looking at it. So many teams are simular and they seem to face one another during the regular season. Indiana has had it the toughest having to battle teams like Michigan and Michigan State in the Big 10. Those three teams alone could rightfully make a claim for a number one seed in the NCAA Tournament.
Recently, the Hoosiers had to face Ohio State at home. The Buckeyes have been getting lost with all of the attention going to the other teams in the conference but they're coming off of a great win against a good Minnesota team and Michigan State. If they get hot, which it appears they are, they could be very dangerous with Deshaun Thomas and Aaron Craft.
Who would have expected the Miami Hurricanes to be the best team in the ACC? Yes, they're coming off of a loss to the Duke Blue Devils but their resume has been quite impressive in the conference. If you think they're doing well because the conference is down, look again.
After losing back to back games to Miami and Duke the North Carolina Tar Heels are looking good. They're 21-8 (11-5) and positioning themselves for post-season success.
While the North Carolina State Wolfpack were the most overrated team in the preseason polls, they are still 10-6 in the ACC and will probably be a top four seed in their bracket come tournament time.
March Madness is approaching quickly and it will certainly live up to it's name. Throw in Kansas, Gonzaga and Otto Porter (Georgetown) and you can have an unpredictable finish.
