Rob Long: Looking A Little Familiar
On Thursday night, the Baltimore Orioles battled the Boston Red Sox in a game that resembled the way the club battled their way to 93 wins in 2012.
A Chris Davis homerun and two clutch hits by Adam Jones was all the offense that the O's could muster up but the pitchers kept the Sox bats in order.
Chris Tillman battled his way through 5 1/3 innings, giving up two runs on five hits while striking out six.
However, the story was the O's bullpen, taking the ball from Tillman and shutting down anything that would remotely resemble a rally. Brian Matusz, Pedro Strop, Darren O'Day and Jim Johnson took over and secured the series for the Birds.
Just think, on Wednesday, the Orioles were looking at their fourth consecutive loss with two outs and none on in the ninth. After a late rally and a win Thursday, they cruise into New York to take on the Yankees after winning two in a row.
