Rob Long: Is There More To Come?
On Monday, Buck Showalter mentioned during his pregame press conference that teams with good starting pitching play in October. That's no surprise but it came at a time when his starters had been shaky at best.
Then, on Tuesday, Dan Duquette appeared on CBS Sports Radio and talked more about the pitching. Duquette that if the team couldn't find stability from within, they would have to go outside. That echoes the sentiments of many fans that look toward the O's making a deal to solidify their staff.
Those are two comments by the Baltimore Orioles "brass" in less than 24 hours addressing their current pitching situation. Is there more to come? Is Duquette on the line as we speak trying to broker a deal for the team? How much does Dylan Bundy's setback play into this?
One thing's for sure, the O's are no longer a win later team. They are in the business of winning now? Teams that win now don't play for prospects, they play for productivity.
