Alleged Road Rage Incident At Laurel Popeyes Leads To Stabbing

LAUREL, Md. (WJZ)—A confrontation at an Anne Arundel County Popeyes restaurant leads to a man getting stabbed multiple times.

Tracey Leong has the story.

The victim doesn't understand why the suspect viciously attacked him with a knife over a simple misunderstanding.

Veteran Kevin Lee has dedicated his life to protecting his country, serving in the U.S. Marine Corps and Army. Lee never thought he would need defense at his own home.

"He was about where you are now and he gave me a jerk like as if he was going to hit me and I backed up and he rushed me," Lee said.

Lee is recovering from several stab wounds and has no idea why it reached this level of violence.

"I just can't see him getting so anguished by me pulling off in front of him," Lee said.

Lee says it all started at the Popeyes on 198. The suspect then followed Lee home, which is less than 2 miles away.

"He asked me when I got out of my car, he was like 'Yo, dude. You didn't have to pull off in front of me like that and I said 'you didn't have to sat there and be stagnant,'" Lee said.

Police are providing surveillance footage of the suspect taken at a nearby business in Laurel.

He's 5 feet 9 inches tall, weighing 150 pounds.

"Never should have gotten to this. We see way too many of these incidents of road rage whether on the highway or parking lot," said Justin Mulcahy, Anne Arundel County Police.

The suspect is driving a 2000 model green Nissan Maxima with a damaged hood and Maryland plates.

Lee is hoping the suspect is caught, so he can't hurt anyone else.

"He followed me home and did this, so that was my major concern and that just let's me know there are some vicious people out here," Lee said.

The suspect faces several charges, including felony first-degree assault.
