Richardson Pushes To See Jailed American In Cuba
HAVANA (AP) -- Former New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson is keeping up his quest to see an American subcontractor jailed in Cuba for nearly two years.
Richardson has hunkered down at the capital's Nacional hotel waiting for a response from Cuban officials to his demand to visit Maryland native Alan Gross in a military hospital where the 62-year-old is being held.
The U.S. politician arrived in Cuba with high hopes he might be able to negotiate Gross' release, but those were dashed when Cuban officials said he could not even meet with him.
Richardson has vowed to stay in Cuba until he does. On Tuesday, he said he had no news to share on whether he has held new meetings with Cuban officials.
