Revelers Ring In New Year By Partying At Power Plant Live
BALTIMORE (WJZ)-- Here in Baltimore and all across the world, people are gathering to ring in the new year.
Weijia Jiang has more on how people are partying to end 2011.
Goodbye 2011!
"Happy New Year! 2012 in the house! Yes!"
"Out with the old, in with the new! Here's to 2012!"
In downtown Baltimore, revelers rolled out their New Year's Eve best to celebrate in style.
"My girlfriends and I, it was like a whole week event picking out accessories, what goes with what," Rachel Anders of Baltimore said. "Not much a girlie-girl, but when it comes to New Year's Eve, you gotta let it happen."
"Really easy to meet people, everyone's just ready to talk. Yeah, it's been great!" said one person.
At Power Plant Live!, between 10,000 and 20,000 party-goers lined up to dance the night away.
"There's lots of lights, it's very exciting, a lot to look at. I'm having fun. I'm excited!" said another.
"All you can eat, all you can drink, plenty of pretty people," said Edward Witherspoon of Baltimore.
In fact, online ticket sales brought in guests from 32 different states.
"I've been dying to come to Baltimore. She didn't think I'd like this. This is exactly what I dream about, and I'm having a great time so far," said an out-of-town guest.
"We wanted it to be as close to a party in Las Vegas, New York, Miami, but still be in Baltimore," Christopher Furst of Power Plant Live! said.
It's the perfect remedy for many who are ready to start fresh.
"It's been a tough year obviously, so this is a new beginning for everybody," said one person.
