Reunited: Camera Lost At Super Bowl Found By Fellow Ravens Fan
BALTIMORE (WJZ)--A trip of a lifetime to the Super Bowl with all the amazing memories captured on your camera. But can you imagine if you lost that camera in the Superdome?
Mary Bubala reports it happened to a fan, but social media saved the day.
As Ravens fans went wild inside the Superdome, Bill Shoul saw something on the ground.
"I found this camera laying a couple rows behind me," Shoul said.
He picked it up, and his friends told him to turn it in.
"I said 'Do you really think if I turn it into anyone here at the Superdome they are going to take the effort?' I said 'I have a much better chance of finding the owners,' so I wrapped it up in some paper towels and put it in my pocket," Shoul said.
When he got back to his home in Perry Hall, he took the memory card out and posted pictures from it on Facebook, and it turns out the camera belongs to Ravens fans.
And soon the photos were shared more 5,000 times.
"Facebook was starting to blow up with people saying 'I know this person. I'll get in touch with them. I'll call you,'" Shoul said.
The couple in the photos also started hearing from lots of friends.
"I was getting phone calls and texts and Facebook messages saying that they had found my camera," said John Boling.
Boling and his wife live only 15 minutes from Shoul.
Monday night they met to exchange thanks and the camera.
"I can't thank Bill enough. I mean there's not a lot of people in this world I think today would take the time and the effort to do what Bill did, and I just really appreciate everything he's done," Boling said.
"Basically with social media and 'Smaltimore' anything can pretty much happen," Shoul said.
The new friends had dinner together and spent the night sharing fond memories of the Ravens Super Bowl win.
