Report Of Fire Closes 3 Baltimore Subway Stations
BALTIMORE (AP) -- Three subway stations are closed after a small fire on the tracks downtown.
The Maryland Transit Administration says due to the smoke trains are not operating between the Charles Center and Johns Hopkins stations Thursday afternoon.
Fire department spokesman Chief Kevin Cartwright says train traffic was interrupted and power was shut off briefly while firefighters assessed the small fire about 800 feet from the Shot Tower station. He says there are no reports of injuries.
Cartwright says the small fire was caused by an arcing third rail cover.
