Report: City To Award $127K in Back Pay To Lt. Brian Rice
BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- The City of Baltimore is expected to award nearly $127,000 in back pay to police Lt. Brian Rice, who was cleared of all charges including manslaughter in the arrest and death of Freddie Gray, our media partner The Baltimore Sun reports.
On Wednesday, the city is set to approve the $126,916 payment to Rice. Rice, the highest ranking officer charged in the case, was among four officers who were placed on unpaid leave due to the felony charges against them.
The suspension for Rice, 42, lasted until July 18 when Circuit Judge Barry Williams acquitted him of manslaughter, misconduct and related charges connected to Gray's arrest and subsequent death in custody.

Officer Caesar Goodson, the driver of the police van in which Gray was injured, was awarded $87,000 in back pay last month by the city's Board of Estimates after he too was acquitted at trial.
Last May, Rice and five other officers were charged after Gray died on April 19, a week after his arrest.
