Recher Theatre In Towson Rocked Out For Last Live Show
TOWSON, Md. (AP) -- The Recher Theatre in Towson has hosted its last live concert and is closing to undergo a transformation.
The final concert featuring 17 bands lasted all day Sunday, beginning at 1 p.m. and ending early Monday morning.
When the theater reopens, it will be a nightclub. The move has disappointed regulars at the theater who gathered for live music.
Owner Brian Recher says the theater would be in business if it could still book the big shows. But he says the music scene is changing.
The theater has been in the Recher family since the 1950s when it was a one-screen movie theater. It began offering live music in the 1990s. The theater will reopen as the Torrent Nightclub after some remodeling and obtaining a liquor license.
